Impact of de-escalation of beta-lactam antibiotics on the emergence of antibiotic resistance in ICU patients: a retrospective observational study

Presented by Pieter Depuydt (Author), Jose Garnacho-Montero (Reviewer) and Jean-François Timsit (ICM Deputy Editor)

De-escalation is considered to be one of the strategies to reduce overall exposure to broad-spectrum antibiotics and its detrimental ecological effects. This retrospective study evaluates determinants of antibiotic de-escalation and whether it is associated with less selection of antimicrobial resistance.

Participants will be able to send written questions and comments to the presenters during 30 minutes following the end of the presentation.
