The five-day programme includes two full pre-congress days of learning and development, which review the most recent, clinically relevant, developments in research, therapy, and management of the critically ill. The congress is open to all physicians, nurses and other allied healthcare professionals with an interest in critical care or emergency medicine..

This event has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 40 European CME credits (ECMEC®s).

To receive your certificate and CME credits after the congress, you must scan your badge daily at the Self-Printing Terminals on Level 0 of the Palais des Congrès during the following opening hours:

After the congress, you will receive an email inviting you to log in to our platform in order to download your certificate.

Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity. Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Information on the process to convert EACCME® credit to AMA credit can be found here.
Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC®s are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

The EACCME® awards ECMEC®s on the basis of 1 ECMEC® for one hour of CME with a maximum of 8 ECMEC®s per day. Cf. Chapter X of UEMS 2016.20.

Conflicts of interest
Any person who chairs or speaks at LIVES 2018 in sessions not supported by industry grants will declare, in advance of the publication of the Final Programme, the existence of any relationship or arrangement, direct or indirect, that could be reasonably considered to affect the content of the presentation. This includes, but is not limited to, factors such as financial relationships, advisory positions, receipt of payments, expenses, grants, or departmental support, and membership of other organisations.
Chairs and speakers who have declared a “conflict of interest” will be indicated in the Final Programme with an asterisk (*). Declared conflicts of interest are automatically disclosed to the audience at the beginning of each session.

e-AREA: Access all of the ESICM LIVES cutting-edge content digitally in one central place in the exhibition.

HOT TOPICS SESSION: Session at the end of the congress devoted to the presentation of cutting edge research to a very large audience. The 2018 Industry Research Awards and ESICM Awards will be presented to the winners.

INTERACTIVE DEBATES: Take part in in-depth discussions about complex problems/situations that clinicians address in daily practice. Experts from various areas of intensive care medicine are invited to speak on a set topic, then the moderator and audience can join the debate.

INTERACTIVE SESSIONS: Test your skills and receive immediate feedback thanks to the live voting function in the ESICM LIVES 2018 App.

KEYNOTE LECTURE SESSIONS: are the first lecture of the day held by a well-known speaker for his/her expertise in a particular field. The aim is to present issues of primary interest for all participants and to stimulate the younger colleagues towards excellence.

MASTER CLASSES: held on Saturday and/or Sunday prior to the core congress programme.

MEMBERS LOUNGE: Relax, refresh and network with other members.

NEXT LOUNGE: The place for young intensivists and ICM trainees to meet up, mingle and enjoy a specially designed parallel scientific programme.

POSTER CORNERS: Abstract presenters will discuss their data in Poster Corner sessions moderated by world-class experts. Presenters will make a 4 minute presentation followed by a 3 minute time slot for comments and discussion by the audience.

SIMULATION CENTRE: Interactive area where you can get hands-on practice and follow sessions in Mechanical Ventilation, TEE, ECMO or Basics of bronchoscopy in ICU.

TECH LOUNGE: Watch demonstrations of the latest technology to analyse big data, see how telemedicine works and discuss how future developments in technology can change the way we practise. Offers dynamic sessions where you can participate and contribute to the discussion onsite and via social media.
