What is CO:LAB?

CO:LAB is an online initiative developed by the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) NEXT Committee to bring together early-career intensive care professionals from across the world.

The programme aims to create a dynamic space where NEXT members can share their research, discuss innovative ideas, build collaborations, and grow as a scientific community. Through interactive presentations and discussions, the primary objectives of the events are to:

  • Connect — Strengthen the NEXT Community: Cultivate an active, engaged network of the next generation of intensive care leaders.
  • Collaborate — Foster Partnerships: Connect like-minded professionals across countries to build multicenter study groups or project teams, using interactive discussions and networking to exchange knowledge.
  • Create — Showcase Innovation & Accelerate Project Growth: Provide a high-visibility platform for early career investigators to present fresh research and ideas. By offering constructive peer and senior feedback, the programme helps elevate raw concepts into actionable, future research partnerships.

There are two CO:LAB event held every year (Winter and Spring), offering an open platform for the intensivist world to listen to the latest and discover what is on the horizon for the future of intensive care.

Open call

Applications are now open to all ESICM NEXT members for the Winter event (1 December).
