LIVES Forum Conference Utrecht

General Information

Organised by the ESICM and the Dutch Intensive Care Society (NVIC), this LIVES FORUM aims to provide a complete picture of the latest knowledge updates in heart-lung interactions to improve the treatment of critically ill patients. Physicians, nurses, and scientists from all over Europe, we will learn from one another.

We look forward to welcoming all experts and participants for some days of experiential workshops, keynotes, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.

This LIVES Forum will welcome you in Utrecht (The Netherlands) from 22-24 June 2023, in the splendid setting of Jaarbeurs.

Access to the venue

By airplane

Schiphol is the biggest airport in the Netherlands, and the 4th largest in Europe. When arriving at Schiphol Airport you have different transport options to get to Utrecht. You could take a taxi, bus or rent a car, but the easiest way to get to central Utrecht is by train. The train station Schiphol is directly underneath the passenger terminal.

Other airports in the Netherlands  

Because of high landing costs at Schiphol, many airlines offer cheap direct flights from smaller airports that are a bit further away, but still at a reasonable distance from Utrecht.

By train in the Netherlands

It takes approximately 37m to travel from Schiphol Airport to Utrecht Centraal by train, over a distance of around 34 km. There are normally 4 trains per hour that travel from Schiphol Airport to Utrecht Centraal and tickets start from €10.80. Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) is the principal passenger railway operator in the Netherlands. You can plan your journey on their website: https://www.ns.nl/en.

Media Plaza is easily accessible by train, bus or tram. The Central Station of Utrecht and the adjacent bus station are within a walking distance of about five to ten minutes. When you arrive in Utrecht, follow the signs to Jaarbeursplein. When leaving the station, keep left and take the (escalator) stairs down. Thereafter walk straight ahead, across Jaarbeursplein, in the direction of Jaarbeurs. To do this, cross the Croeselaan and follow the broad boulevard to Entrance East. Follow the signs to Media Plaza and take the two escalators that take you to the second floor to take. When you arrive at the top you can follow the ESICM LIVES Forum signing to the registration area.

By car

Use P4 as a parking lot nearby Media Plaza to car park. After that, you walk to Entrance West. Follow the signs to Media Plaza and take the two escalators that take you to the second floor to take. When you arrive at the top you can follow the ESICM LIVES Forum signing to the registration area.

CME Credits

The ESICM LIVES Forum 2023 in Utrecht, Netherlands, 22/06/2023-24/06/2023 has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) for a maximum of 15 European CME credits (ECMEC®s).

Each medical specialist should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

The EACCME® is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.eu
Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Live educational activities occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC® credits are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Abstracts

The abstract submission system closed on 30 March 2023, 23:59 CET.

The submitted abstracts have been examined anonymously by the Reviewers and Conference Committee. We thank the abstracts submitters and congratulate those selected. We also encourage the authors not selected to resubmit for the ESICM LIVES 2023 in Milan.

The authors have been informed of acceptance/rejection of their abstract by email on 04 April. Presentation details have been sent by email on 26 May.

All abstracts selected for presentation at the Conference will be presented as e-poster presentation. There is NO publication in the ICMx Journal (= NO Abstract Book).

Notes:

• Registration fees for the presenting author will not be waived.
• The presenting author of an accepted abstract must be registered to the Conference.
• Submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the author to present the abstract in the session and at the time decided upon by the Conference Committee. One of the co-authors can take over if needed. Failure to present the abstract, for other than duly motivated reasons, will lead to rejection of abstract submission at the next ESICM Event.
• It is the authors' responsibility to submit abstracts in perfect order with no errors in spelling and grammar. Abstracts will not be corrected.
• ESICM does not accept case reports.
• The authors agree that ESICM will record the presentation for subsequent use, as it deems appropriate.
• The signing author certifies that any work with human or animal subjects related in this abstract complies with the guiding principles for experimental procedures as set forth in the Declaration of Helsinki and related publications.

Failure to adhere to these rules will result in the automatic rejection of the abstract.

Terms and Conditions

• The registration fee is based on the date of the online registration submission and the payment, in full accordance with the deadlines mentioned above. Should one deadline be missed, the next applicable fee will be charged automatically.
• If the maximum participant capacity is reached, the organizers reserve the right to refuse any registration.
• Registration to the conference is permitted to participants who are 18 years or older. (The registration department reserves the right to request for an official identity card stating the age of the participant).
• The registration fees mentioned herein include entry to the sessions of the conference, the exhibition area and the opening session.

Registration Categories

ESICM / NVIC Member

The reduced fee applies only to official members of the above-mentioned societies. In the case of a membership application during the conference registration process, the ESICM has 3 (three) weeks to approve or reject the application.

In case of membership rejection, the non-member registration fee will apply.

Young Physician / Lid AIOS, ANIOS, onderzoeker, fellow

Only participants born on or after 1 January 1992 are eligible for the Young Physician registration.

Nurses and Allied Healthcare Professionals / Verpleegkundige, PA

Participants who are registered as nurses and allied healthcare professionals.

Media Representative
There is no registration fee for accredited media representatives, however all media representatives need to register. Media Representatives will need to provide their official press card to the Registration Department.

Registration Cancellation and Name Change Policy

All cancellations must be send to the conference secretariat by e-mail to livesforum@eventex.nl

• The participant can revoke participation free of charge within 14 days via e-mail to livesforum@eventex.nl
• For cancellations submitted until the 31st of March 2023, 50% of the total participation amount will be withheld as cancellation fees.
• For cancellations submitted from the 1st of April until the 17th of May 2023, 80% of the total participation amount will be withheld as cancellation fees.
• No refunds will be made after the 16th of May 2023.
• In the event of conference postponement, all paid registration fees and services will be transferred to the new conference dates.

Refunds for cancelled registrations (per cancellation policy dates, mentioned above) will be carried out within 2 months after the end of the conference. Please include full bank details on your written notification for cancellation. Bank charges will be borne by the cancelled participant.

Name changes must be submitted via e-mail to livesforum@eventex.nl
• Per name change a fee of €30,- will be applied.
• For each new registrant the same terms and conditions as stated herein will apply.
• Name changes will be accepted only until the 31st of May 2023, by e-mail, indicating the new and old names and all new contact details.
