Heart lung interactions in pneumonia

 

This COVID-19 webinar covered all aspects of heart-lung interactions in critically ill patients with pneumonia.

The experts:

Prof. Daniel DE BACKER , is Head of the Intensive Care Department of the CHIREC Hospitals in Brussels and Braine l’Alleud-Waterloo and Professor of Intensive Care at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). His main fields of investigation are sepsis, organ dysfunction and support, circulatory failure, haemodynamic monitoring (including echocardiography), hepato-splanchnic circulation and microcirculatory disorders.

Professor De Backer is a past President of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine. His name is linked to some of the most important research in the field of shock, sepsis and microcirculation. Considered to be one of the best echocardiographers in the field, he has been instrumental in developing the ESICM European Diploma in Echocardiography (EDEC)..

Dr. Nick FLETCHER is a consultant anaesthetist at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London, with a special interest in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and intensive care medicine. He specialises in intensive care medicine and cardiac anaesthesia. His clinical interests are in intensive care for cardiac surgery, acute cardiology, echocardiography training and practice for intensive care. He also has an interest in haemodynamic monitoring and management.

Dr Fletcher is the former President of the Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists (ACTA) and a member of the European Association of Cardiac Anaesthetists Echocardiography Committee.
