An evidence-based educational journey designed to build foundational to advanced competencies in extracorporeal life support, guided by EuroELSO standards. Note: Due to the specifics of this pathway, there is no transition level. To remain consistent with the methodology applied to all ESICM pathways, levels are stipulated accordingly (in this case Level 1 and Level3).
A total of 10 fellowships will be offered in 2026 in the ECLS/ECMO pathway. In addition to the 5 fellowships offered every year in joint collaboration with EuroELSO, 5 extra fellowships will be provided in 2026, fully funded by Getinge.
The fellowships supported by Getinge will also include the opportunity to propose a research project, with the winning project receiving a €20,000 grant.
This programme is an opportunity for participants to undertake fellowships in specific areas of ECLS/ECMO, gaining bedside teaching from experts at globally renowned academic health sciences centres. Fellowships will last 1 week and include a bursary of €1,000 to support travel and accommodation.
