Expected Learning Outcomes

By the end of this advanced level, participants will be able to:

Explore and Reflect

  • Assess their own knowledge and understanding of sepsis, severe infections, diagnostics, and antimicrobial stewardship, identifying areas for further development.
  • Critically reflect on current diagnostic practices and decision-making in complex infection management.

Specialized Infection Management

  • Describe the approach to patients with suspected or confirmed fungal infections, including diagnostic strategies, identification, and management.
  • Review and manage infections in immunocompromised patients and intra-abdominal infections, recognizing diagnostic challenges and applying solutions.
  • Analyze hard-to-treat infections, complex antimicrobial therapy, and management of patients with organ failure (e.g., refractory septic shock, adjuvant therapy), incorporating advanced diagnostic interpretation.

Advanced Clinical Decision-Making

  • Apply advanced clinical reasoning using diagnostics to optimize antimicrobial stewardship in high-risk or complex patient populations.
  • Integrate multidisciplinary knowledge and diagnostic insights to anticipate complications and guide management in critically ill patients.

Overall: Consolidate expertise in managing complex infections and sepsis, using diagnostics strategically to tackle high-risk scenarios and advance stewardship practices in critical care.

Target

The programme targets doctors, clinical pharmacists, nurses and allied healthcare professionals working in ICU, and will support them in their efforts of continuous professional development and learning continuum, undertaken to provide appropriate care to their patients.

Accreditation
