It includes Live event #3 (onsite): Developing expert practice in Sepsis, Severe Infections & Stewardship. It is a pre-congress advanced course at LIVES, October 25-26, 2025) https://www.esicm.org/events/38th-annual-congress-munich/ .

This event can be completed separately or as part of the learning pathway. It will integrate important topics such as challenges in infection management in the ICU, fungal infections, antimicrobial stewardship, challenges in antibacterial therapy and not only. Participants will have the opportunity to join live discussions, manage complex cases, and tackle controversial topics with world leading experts on the topic.

Learning Objectives
  • Explore the participants knowledge and understanding of sepsis, severe infections and stewardship and identify areas for development.
  • Describe the approach to the patient with suspected and confirmed fungal infection, including identification, diagnosis and management
  • Review the management of infections in the immunocompromised host and intra-abdominal infection, and describe the challenges encountered and how these may be addressed.
  • Explore a series of hard-to-treat infections and challenges in antimicrobial therapy
  • Discuss the challenges in organ failure management
  • Support the development and implementation of effective sepsis stewardship programmes at institutional levels.
  • Deliver personalised care that considers the individual characteristics and clinical context of each patient.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists to optimize antimicrobial therapy and ensure safe, effective medication use.

Up to 15 free entries to the course will be offered by ESICM to top performing participants in the pathway.

Target

The programme targets doctors, clinical pharmacists, nurses and allied healthcare professionals working in ICU, and will support them in their efforts of continuous professional development and learning continuum, undertaken to provide appropriate care to their patients.
