Sepsis, Severe Infections and Stewardship pathway

Last updated : 23/12/2025 - 6632 views

Infection and sepsis remain major global health priorities and present specific challenges to intensive care practice. Building on ESICM’s prior education initiatives in infection management, sepsis, and AMS including LIVES workshops, fellowships, and digital modules this programme proposes a hybrid, modular model. It combines centralized activities (ensuring scientific quality and content consistency) with country-specific, decentralised activities (enabling national adaptation and capacity building). Online educational activities will be open to participants worldwide, ensuring broad international reach and knowledge dissemination. AMS remains a cross-cutting priority aligned with EU and global health policy priorities. A pilot phase is planned in five European countries, including Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and UK, with the support of the relevant national societies, providing an initial framework for broader implementation. Participation in the onsite events and the fellowship will prioritize candidates from these pilot countries during the pilot phase.
