Sunday 29 September, 17.00-18.20, Room Berlin

Official Opening of the ESICM 32nd Annual Congress

ESICM President, Jozef Kesecioglu, officially opened ESICM’s 32rd Annual Congress LIVES 2019 in Berlin on Sunday 29 September. Speaking to an audience of over 1,000 people, he presented the Society’s achievements over the last year – in terms of education and research, international relations and collaborations. Also featured were the projects supported by the Society’s Fund, which bring sepsis education to low and middle income countries, including Uganda, Pakistan and Mongolia.

The audience was treated to an entertaining and practical demonstration of the importance of adopting correct body language – whether this is a senior physician addressing a team, or a junior doctor trying to explain a difficult or sensitive issue to a supervisor.

Presentations of the congress highlights, the Society medal and annual honorary memberships were interspersed with magical acts and illusions to reinforce the theme of what we anticipate, may change what we actually see.

One thing is sure, we anticipate a very exciting congress programme for the next three days…The core congress begins on Monday 30 September.
