VENTILATOR INDUCED LUNG INJURY (VILI) is one of the most relevant variable responsible for the outcome of ARDS patients. We recently learned that VILI plays a role also in mechanically ventilated patients without ARDS. To understand the mechanisms of VILI it’s crucial to implement the appropriate clinical strategies that may prevent VILI.
