Gavin Perkins (Coventry, United Kingdom) discusses the Breathe study, which tested the hypothesis that protocolised weaning, including early extubation to NIV, would reduce time to liberation from ventilation compared to protocolised weaning from IMV alone. Results from his study were presented live during the Hot Topics session at LIVES 2017 in Vienna.
