In this LIVES FORUM, we aim at providing a full picture of the progress being made towards better diagnosis, treatment and long-term care for trauma patients. We will focus on all components in the chain of trauma care from the moment of injury to the return to active life.

Physicians, paramedics, nurses, scientists from all over Europe, we welcome all experts in the field of trauma for one and two half days of experiential workshops, keynotes, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.

LIVES FORUM is jointly organised with the Hellenic Society of Intensive Care Medicine (HSICM).

The Conference Committee is composed of: Maria Theodorakopoulou, Vasileios Bekos and Anastasia Kotanidou (HSICM); Maurizio Cecconi, Jean-Louis Teboul, Claudio Sandroni and Geert Meyfroidt (ESICM).

General Information

Organised by the ESICM and the Hellenic Society of Intensive Care Medicine, this LIVES FORUM aims at providing a full picture of the progress being made towards better diagnosis, treatment and long-term care for trauma patients. We will focus on all components in the chain of trauma care from the moment of injury to the return to active life. Physicians, paramedics, nurses, scientists from all over Europe, we will learn from one another.

We are looking forward to welcoming all experts in the field of trauma for one and two half days of experiential workshops, keynotes, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, in Athens, 23-25 June 2022!

CME Credits

The ESICM LIVES Forum 2022, Athens, Greece, 23/06/2022-25/06/2022 has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 15 European CME credits (ECMEC®s).

Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity. Your certificate of attendance will be sent to you after the conference by email.

Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.

Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC®s are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Two Best Abstracts Awards

Presenters of the 2 best abstracts will receive free registration for one of our forthcoming ESICM events (LIVES Paris 2022 or one e-Master Class).

Abstracts selected by the jury will be presented in our Poster Session during LIVES Forum in Athens on Friday 24 June between 12:50-13:40 in the Exhibition Area:

  1. A simple approach to Improving the Management of Patients Admitted with Traumatic Brain Injury managed within a District General Hospital - N. Desai (Birmingham, United Kingdom)
  2. A single brain CT scan in mild TBI is a safe tool to guide discharge from ED of patients on antithrombotic drugs - G. Diserò (Padova, Italy)

Review Process

The submitted abstracts have been examined anonymously by the ESICM Reviewers. We thank the abstracts submitters and congratulate those selected. We also encourage the authors not selected to resubmit for the ESICM LIVES 2022 in Paris.

The authors have been informed of acceptance/rejection of their abstract by email on 26 April. All abstracts selected for mandatory presentation at the Conference will be presented as poster presentations. There will be no publication in the ICMx Journal (no Abstract Book) for LIVES Forum.

The abstract submission system closed on 04 April 2022. Abstract submitters received an e-mail confirmation immediately after submitting their abstract. If you did not receive this e-mail, please contact the Abstract Department.

Notes:

  • LIVES Forum will be an exclusive on-site event. All presenting authors must register for the conference and present their abstract in Athens.
  • Registration fees for the presenting author will not be waived.
  • Submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the author to present the abstract at the session and the time decided by the Conference Committee. One of the co-authors can take over if needed.
  • It is the authors' responsibility to submit abstracts in perfect order with no errors in spelling and grammar. Abstracts will not be corrected.
  • ESICM does not accept case reports.
  • The authors agree that ESICM will record the presentation for subsequent use as it deems appropriate.
  • The signing author certifies that any work with human or animal subjects related in this abstract complies with the guiding principles for experimental procedures set forth in the Declaration of Helsinki and related publications.

Failure to adhere to these rules will result in the automatic rejection of the abstract.

Trauma Simulation Workshop

It is time to return to in-person learning! LIVES Forum Athens 2022 offers you the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of:

  • Pelvic trauma with haemorrhagic shock in the Trauma Bay
  • Neurological deterioration in a trauma patient admitted to the ICU after a pelvic bleeding

By attending this highly interactive workshop, you will:

  • improve your crisis management skills;
  • understand and learn the importance of non-technical skills for trauma management;
  • be exposed to different ways of managing trauma patients.

Terms and Conditions

  • Registration for the ESICM LIVES Forum Athens is not a prerequisite for signing up for the workshop
  • For participants in the ESICM Digital Master Class, a special registration code will be sent-out by ESICM, which should be used upon registration for a workshop, for confirmation of eligibility of the discounted fee.
  • Seats are limited and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Participants can only attend (1) of the time slots indicated above (based on final workshop schedule)
  • Above times may change according to final scientific program schedule
  • Payment details will be sent to interested participants, following confirmation of their conference registration

Registration Cancellation and Name Change Policy

Cancellations must be submitted via e-mail to the registration department dnikolopoulou@concopco.com.

  • For cancellations submitted until the 14th of February 2022, no cancellation fees apply.
  • For cancellations submitted from the 15th of February until the 31st of March 2022, 50% of the total participation amount will be withheld as cancellation fees.
  • For cancellations submitted from the 1st of April until the 16th of May 2022, 80% of the total participation amount will be withheld as cancellation fees.
  • No refunds will be made after the 17th of May 2022.
  • In the event of conference postponement, all paid registration fees and services will be transferred to the new conference dates.

Refunds for cancelled registrations (per cancellation policy dates, mentioned above) will be carried-out within 2 months after the end of the conference. Please include full bank details on your written notification for cancellation. Bank charges will be borne by the cancelled participant.

Name changes must be submitted via e-mail to the registration department, at dnikolopoulou@concopco.com.

  • 30 € per name change will be apply.
  • For each new registrant the same terms and conditions as stated herein will apply.

Terms and Conditions

The registration fee is based on the date of the on-line registration submission and the payment, in full accordance with the deadlines mentioned above. Should one deadline be missed, the next applicable fee will be charged automatically

  • If the maximum participant capacity is reached, the organisers reserve the right to refuse any registration.
  • Registration to the conference is permitted to participants who are 18 years old or older. (The registration department reserves the right to request for an official identity card stating the age of the participant).
  • The registration fees mentioned herein include entry to all sessions, the exhibition area and the opening session.

Registration Categories

ESICM / HSIC Member

The reduced fee applies only to official members of the above-mentioned societies. In the case of a membership application during the conference registration process, the ESICM has 3 (three) weeks to approve or reject the application. In case of membership rejection, the non-member registration fee will apply.

Young Physician Registration

Only participants born on or after 1 January 1992 are eligible for the Young Physician registration. During the registration process, Young Physicians will be asked to provide proof of their age.

Nurses and Allied Healthcare Professionals

Participants eligible to register as nurses and allied healthcare professionals need to submit proof of their status* to the Registration Department, Conco Meetings and Events, otherwise, the regular participant registration fees will apply.
*Proof of status: 1. Professional card showing the status or 2. Letter from the Head of the Department on an official letterhead (confirming the status).

Media Representative Registration
There is no registration fee for accredited media representatives, however all media representatives need to register. Media Representatives will need to provide their official press card to the Registration Department.

Group Registration

The Registration Department cannot be held responsible for the double booking of an individual participant or group made by another company or organisation.
