World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week 2024
Educate. Advocate. Act Now.
This week (18 – 24 November) we celebrate the World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week 2024, dedicated to the theme “Educate. Advocate. Act Now.”
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) presents a growing global challenge. As bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites evolve to resist medicines, infections become increasingly hard to treat, leading to longer illnesses, greater disease spread, and rising mortality. Since the World Health Assembly’s action plan in 2015, raising awareness has been critical to countering AMR’s spread. This week, we join the global campaign to inspire healthcare professionals, policymakers, and communities to take meaningful steps against AMR.
In support of this mission, ESICM offers a range of valuable resources, including the AIRSPACE WEBapp—a tool designed to help ICU healthcare professionals make informed decisions on antimicrobial selection and dosing. Additionally, ESICM provides educational resources through the ESICM Academy, hosts expert-led webinars on AMR, and offers comprehensive training programs, such as the AMS Learning Pathway, for more in-depth learning.
Listen to ESICM President Jan De Waele’s message and join in promoting smarter use of knowledge, advocacy, and action to preserve antimicrobial effectiveness and build a healthier future.
