EPIC-IG Visit: Health Security and Global Health Resilience at the European Parliament

On 12 November, ESICM and the European Parliament co-hosted a high-level working session on Health Security and Global Health Resilience. Co-chaired by MEP Sirpa Pietikäinen and Prof. Maurizio Cecconi, with the participation of ESICM President, Jan De Waele, and ESICM CEO, Joël Alexandre, the meeting brought together EU policymakers and leading experts to push a clear objective: build a stronger, faster, more coordinated European response to all health threats.

Core priorities discussed:

• Strengthening preparedness and resilience to all health emergencies
• Boosting cross-border mobility and training for the healthcare workforce
• Advancing institutional and civil–military cooperation for effective responses

ESICM also thanks MEPs Elena Nevado del Campo and Grégory Allione, as well as the European Health Emergency Response Authority (HERA), for their support.

This session is another step toward a safer, more connected, and more operational EU Health Union, where experts and policymakers work hand-in-hand to anticipate, respond, and protect.
