Preventing Infection in the immunocompromised patient
This module will discuss pros and cons of infection prevention measures in the ICU, and how they can protect the immunocompromised patient, as well as how to identify the most important and effective intervention for reducing infection in the ICU.
Infection prevention and control
This module reviews the scale of the problem of antimicrobial resistance and nosocomial infection, the methods for recognising and detecting infection, and their management and prevention. It will also place particular emphasis on antibiotic stewardship and the responsibilities of both individuals and organisations in preventing these conditions which cause significant morbidity and mortality.
