Implementing the Guidelines

In this icTV video from our SEPSIS SERIES, Richard Beale discusses the reasoning behind the low rates of adherence, despite the evidence that implementation of the SSC guidelines is effective in lowering severity and mortality in septic patients.

He notes that a key priority for the next phase of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign is to ensure that hospitals who have participated in the first phases of the campaign continue to improve adherence rates and to expand include all hospitals who have yet to implement the guidelines. Beale describes a new data collection tool, and educational materials which will be available from the SSC to meet this critical goal.
