Guest speaker Professor Bin Du (Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Peking Union Medical College Hospital) has been working as a national expert in Wuhan since 18 January 2020.

Responsible for the review of the national strategy and treatment plan for coping with the situation in Wuhan, he describes his own experience and treatment of the critical patients with the COVID-19.

Professor Maurizio Cecconi (Head of the Anaesthesia and ICU at Humanitas Research Hospital, Milan & ESICM President elect) describes Italy’s response and preparations to contain the virus and increase surge capacity and the importance of the RDs network.

Professor Kesecioglu (Head of Intensive Care Medicine, University Medical Centre, Utrecht, Netherlands & ESICM President) discusses hospital policies for non-invasive ventilation and intubation, visiting hours and protection of personnel, and emphasises the importance of regular hospital drills and preparedness.
