More N&AHP need advanced specialised training

Why the Society is involving nurses and allied health professionals in its advanced training courses


Nurses and allied health professionals are starting to take over more advanced roles and the profession is changing.  Not all countries have enough medical physicians or intensivists to work in ICUs and more N&AHP are being recruited, according to Johannes Mellinghoff, N&AHP Committee representative and faculty member.

This phenomenon needs to be accompanied by specialised education.  While some national institutions can provide advanced training, ESICM is able to fill the gaps where this is not available.
