SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT ~ Arthur Slutsky
LUNG PROTECTION DURING MECHANICAL VENTILATION: A 500 YEAR JOURNEY
One of the top experts in the field, Arthur Slutsky kicks off the scientific programme of LIVES 2015 with his keynote on mechanical ventilation - and specifically lung protection - a central consideration for every intensive care practitioner daily at the bedside. Surely there is no more desirable way to begin your core congress than to listen to this highly in-demand speaker on this defining topic.
This keynote presentation will take participants on a journey through time, with a review the history of mechanical ventilation from the 16th Century to the present. The major theme will centre on how our increasing knowledge of the relevant physiology has led to our realisation of the importance of ventilator induced lung injury. This in turn has led to the development of lung protective ventilatory strategies and an improvement in outcomes for patients with acute respiratory failure.
Don't miss this fundamental keynote presentation...
