Aims & Missions
The working group on Critical Care Nephrology was established to initiate collaborative research covering topics of nephrology relevant to critically ill patients. Additional aims are the development of recommendations for prevention and treatment of renal injury as well as various aspects of renal replacement therapy in the intensive care setting. An expert meeting on protection and prevention of acute renal failure took place on September 22, 2005, in Amsterdam. Recommendations on these topics are in preparation and a final version is expected during 2007. Members of the working group participated in the meeting of the acute kidney injury network (AKIN) during September 28-30. This meeting was aimed at following goals:
- Proposal for Uniform Standards for Definition and Classification of Acute Kidney Injury
- Definition of Topics for Joint Conference aiming at international guidelines for prevention and treatment of acute kidney injury
- Establishment of an interdisciplinary Collaborative Research network
Research: A study on the Epidemiology of Acute Injury is being planned (E.Hoste)
