Cardiovascular dynamics (CD)
Aims and Missions
The Section on Cardiovascular dynamics aims to encourage research, training and education into acute circulatory dysfunction and cardiac failure. We take an active role in the design of the scientific programme for our Annual Congress and also aim to provide postgraduate education at each annual congress through the sponsorship and supervision of one of the postgraduate courses.
Chair and deputy

Activities
Last year we ran a postgraduate course on echocardiography. This was a 'hands-on' course with the aims of teaching beginners to echocardiography the basics of the technique for haemodynamic assessment. This course was very successful and we intend to run it again. Anyone interested in teaching or attending the course would be more than welcome. In particular, hands on sessions for beginners in small groups will be stimulated throughout the course. Please look at the website in the next months.
Before the Congress in Vienna, the section organized a Round Table on Education and Training in Echocardiography, with 13 international societies present from all over the World. Dr B Cholley (Paris) chaired this meeting. Conclusions will become available in the next few months.
During the meeting, various interesting topics were covered in thematic sessions (haemodynamic monitoring, education and training in cardiovascular monitoring, acute heart failure and modern approaches, etc.). Many other issues in the field of modern cardiovascular management were discussed.
Anyone interested in helping with the work of the Section or getting involved with the research interests of the Section can either contact myself directly or through the Brussels office. Otherwise we encourage you to participate in the Section meetings and will be delighted to welcome you in Barcelona this year.
