THE ESICM MEMBERSHIP CLASSES

Who are the ESICM members?
|
|
The over 4000 worldwide members of the ESICM (and the over 600 ESPNIC joint members) include a diverse group of highly trained professionals who provide care in specialised care units and work toward the best outcome possible for seriously ill patients.

|
Following our Statutes, the Membership classes are
|
|
1. Ordinary members
- Anyone working in intensive care in Europe
- May participate in business and scientific meetings
- May vote and are eligible for office in the Association
- Receive the journal Intensive Care Medicine
- Pay a membership fee annually which includes the subscription to the journal.

2. International members
- Anyone working in intensive care outside Europe
- May participate in business and scientific meetings
- May vote and are eligible for office in Council only
- Receive the journal Intensive Care Medicine
- Pay a membership fee annually which includes the subscription to the journal

Members in training are Ordinary or International members who benefit from a reduction of 40% on the membership fee during their training period in intensive care and for maximum 3 years.
|
3. Honorary members
|
- Ordinary member who has served the Association well or has made a major contribution to intensive care.
- The decision is made by the Executive Committee subject to approval by the Council .
- Same rights as the Ordinary members.

4. Associate members
- Nurses or allied healthcare professionals working in or interested in intensive care
- May participate in business and scientific meetings
- May not vote and are not eligible for office in the Association
- Do not receive the journal
- Pay a reduced membership fee annually
|
|
NB: Any nurse or allied healthcare professional may become an Ordinary or International (depends on Country) member with full voting rights. However, the membership fee is reduced but includes the subscription to the journal.
