THE ESICM DIVISION OF ADMINISTRATIVE AFFAIRS
THE DIVISION OF ADMINISTRATIVE AFFAIRS represents the heart of the Society. It deals with the general communication inside and outside the Society and also manages the Society finances. The communication is essential to foster cooperation between the different bodies within the Society, and also to make the activities of the Society better known in the intensive care community.
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY takes place each year during the Annual Congress. All ESICM and ESPNIC members are invited to participate. The Notification to attend is published in the ESICM Newsletter in June. The Membership cards including at the reverse side a ballot indication allow voting.

The next General Assembly will take place in Lisbon on 23 September 2008.

THE COMMUNICATION COMMITTEE
Is led by Herwig Gerlach (Berlin, Germany). The Chair of the Communication Committee is the Chair of the Division of Administrative Affairs. He is also the Secretary of the ESICM.

AIMS AND MISSIONS
The Communication Committee is in charge of developing and promoting the communication between the Society and its members as well as between the Society and the intensive care medicine community in general. In particular, it is responsible for the management of the Membership (applications, dues, correspondence) and the ESICM website (revision, content management, extranet). The Communication Committee takes care of the amendments to the Statutes and the updating of the Bylaws (Section rules for example). It also organises the elections (President elect, Council members, Sections, and all officers) at the time and in the way set up by the Statutes and Bylaws.
BRUSSELS OFFICE
The Secretary is in close relationship with the Brussels Office staff that is responsible for the daily work related to the secretarial activities of the Society; in particular the Membership secretary and the Administrative Secretary.
THE FINANCE COMMITTEE
is led by Jan Wernerman (Stockholm, Sweden). The Chair of the Finance Committee is the Deputy Chair of the Division of Administrative Affairs. He/she is also the Treasurer of the ESICM.

AIMS AND MISSIONS
The Finance Committee is in charge of all financial activities including financial planning, on behalf of the Society. It will supervise the bookkeeping and accounts of the Society with the help of an expert accountant. It reports to the Executive Committee, the Council, and the General Assembly. The Finance Committee is responsible for the management of the assets of the Society. It will prepare the Annual statement and the Estimates.

The Treasurer is in close relationship with the Brussels Office staff that is responsible for the daily work related to the financial activities of the Society; in particular the Executive Officer and the Accountant. |
